Gun Violence Awareness Month
“Wear Orange” honors survivors of gun violence and builds community in June for Gun Violence Awareness Month. The movement began after Hadiya Pendleton, a 15-year-old Chicago teen, was shot and killed in 2013. Her friends asked others to wear orange to raise awareness about gun violence. They chose orange because it’s the color hunters use to protect themselves.
