States United to Prevent Gun violence  Announces New Executive Director

States United is pleased to announce the appointment of Jeremy Stein as its new Executive Director. Jeremy brings with them a wealth of experience and a strong commitment to advancing the mission of SUPGV.

Jeremy Stein is a nationally recognized gun violence prevention expert, advocate and survivor.  He served as the Executive Director of Ct Against Gun Violence (CAGV) for the last 6 years, where he helped lead the way for the passage of some of the strongest, life-saving gun laws in the nation. During his tenure, Connecticut achieved its first ever “A” rating for the strength of its gun laws.

Mr. Stein is a seasoned litigator with over 23 years of experience, graduating from Emory University School of Law. His interest in fighting gun violence began early in his career, when he served as a prosecutor with the criminal division of the Attorney General’s Office of the District of Columbia. He also served as an assistant public defender with the Maryland Office of the Public Defender, in its Baltimore City felony trial division. He has served on Governor Lamont’s transition team as well as the Biden-Harris Gun Violence Prevention Committee (1st 100 day team) , where he chaired the suicide prevention subcommittee. He was appointed to the CT State Gun Violence Prevention Advisory Committee, as well as the CT State Commission on Community Violence Intervention and Prevention.

“We are excited to welcome Jeremy to lead States United to Prevent Gun Violence into its next chapter, said Sonya Coleman, Chairperson of the Board of Directors. Jeremy’s successful record in advocating for gun violence prevention, community engagement, policy development and passion for the SUPGV mission make him an ideal fit for this role. We are confident that under his leadership, we will continue to make meaningful progress in our efforts to end gun violence.”

Jeremy Stein officially assumes their role on May 1, 2024, and SUPGV looks forward to the positive impact they will bring to the organization.
